SCAS Welcomed Visitors from the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous
Systems and Software Program –
Humanity and Society (WASP-HS)
Today, 27 August 2024, SCAS welcomed administrative staff from the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous
Systems and Software Program – Humanity and Society (WASP-HS) for a productive meeting at the
Collegium. The meeting focused on exchanging ideas about communication, events, and reporting processes.
SCAS has a strong interest in WASP-HS’s mission and was pleased to host this exchange. Given the
commitment of both institutions to advancing interdisciplinary research, internationalization and positioning
Sweden as a leader in research, this exchange was highly relevant. Additionally, SCAS’s AI working group,
initiated by Fellows, has been actively exploring the implications of AI on research, further aligning SCAS
with WASP-HS's goals.
The WASP-HS programme is an eleven-year research initiative (2019-2029) funded by the Wallenberg Foun-
dations. It aims to advance interdisciplinary knowledge and research in the humanities and social sciences
related to AI and autonomous systems. WASP-HS focuses on strategic recruitment with attractive packages,
building a multidisciplinary research network, and expanding capacity through the Graduate School. The pro-
gramme also engages both public and private sectors in research, encouraging dialogue and collaboration on
AI's future and its impact on society.
