Programme information

The International Institute of Sociology invites social scientists from different parts of the world to its 37th World Congress in Stockholm. The theme of the Congress is "Frontiers of Sociology". There will be twenty plenary and semi-plenary sessions.

Some sessions will focus on cutting-edge research in sociology, and others on the relationship between sociology and its neighbouring disciplines. In addition there will be special plenary sessions to commemorate three sociologists who defined and extended the frontiers of the discipline: Pierre Bourdieu, James Coleman, and Robert Merton.

There will also be up to 160 regular sessions, in which up to 800 different papers will be presented.
