International Symposium on Mis- and Disinformation Held at SCAS

The three-day symposium “Sciences against Misinformation” was successfully concluded at SCAS
last week. An international group of scholars, scientists and participants from government agencies,
industry, media and educational institutions participated in presentations and discussions on how to
engage, understand and provide countermeasures against misinformation, disinformation and other
kinds of operations and behavior that threaten democracy in our society.

The programme “Human Brains and Societies” of the Natural Sciences Programme at SCAS organized
the conference, with Kathrin Glüer-Pagin, Dan Larhammar and Thomas Nygren as organizing committee.
Speakers included Maria Baghramian, Anja Bechmann, Christopher Chabris, Mark Coeckelbergh, Emma
Frans, Anders Hagfeldt, Ralph Hertwig, Mikael Karlsson, Anastasia Kozyreva, Martin Kragh, Philipp Lorenz-
Spreen, Sofie Mellberg, Thomas Nygren, James Pamment, Jon Roozenbeek, Jesper Strömbäck, Denis
Teyssou, Charlotte Wagnsson, Åsa Wikforss, and Andreas Önnerfors. The event was funded by The
Erling Persson Family Foundation and The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.
