Venue
The Congress will be held at the Stockholm
City Conference Centre, which consists of two buildings: Folkets Hus
and Norra Latin, which are located directly across the street from each
other. The address of Folkets hus is Barnhusgatan 12-14. The address of
Norra Latin is Drottninggatan 71 B (Barnhusgatan 7 B).
Registration and the opening sessions will take place in Folkets
Hus on Barnhusgatan 12-14.
All Plenary and Some semi-plenary sessions will take place in Folkets
Hus. Some Semi-plenary and all regular sessions, including ISA RC Sessions
will take place in Norra Latin.
Folkets Hus (The People's House) in its present state was designed by
the architect Sven Markelius and built on the same suit as the original
Folkets hus from 1901. It was constructed in three phases during the 1950s
and inaugurated in June 1960. It is a protected historical building for
its functionalist architecture. Folkets Hus' large art collection is well
known and comprises modern murals, statues and portraits as well as pieces
from the old Folkets Hus. Outside the entrance stands "the Docker"
sculpted by the Belgian artist Constantin Meunier. The granite façade
is adorned with a baldachin-styled entablature on which forged copper
symbols for the theatre, the international work and the restaurant business
are mounted. In the middle of the building on the walls of the congress
hall is a 500 square metres large Chamotte relief by Signe Persson-Melin
and Anders Liljefors. On the opposite wall is "The Three Wheels"
by Sven Ljungberg, which is a wall-mounted mosaic featuring the history
of the labour movement. Artworks by Albin Amelin, Sven X:et Erixson and
Bror Hjorth are included in the collection and numerous sculptures, busts
and reliefs embellish the building.
Norra Latin is a protected historical monument and renowned for its architecture,
which is typical of the mid to late 1800's when it was built. The building
was first opened in the autumn of 1880 in the presence of King Oscar and
for more than a hundred years it served as a school. Designed by the architect
Helgo Zetterwall in classic style, or more precisely Florentine Renaissance,
it includes two indoor courtyards with glass ceilings on both sides of
the central stair lobby. In the late 1980's Norra Latin was completely
renovated and reopened in 1989 as a conference facility. The 13-part organ
in the auditorium was renovated and was reinaugurated in 1997.
Computer/based visual presentations (Powerpoint)
Delegates are welcome to prepare a powerpoint presentations. There will
be a PC computer and a projector/beamer with Microsoft Office 2003 and
